Winter is a lovely time in Sandefjord and along the coast. Here are ideas for a winter day in our town.

Skiing and tobogganing are popular in Skileiken on Haukerød.


Cross Country Skiing

Put on your cross-country skis and go for a walk. In Sandefjord there are several places for cross-country skiing. Start at Haukerød by Runarhallen. On can at any time see where the trails are run (map in Norwegian with trails). If lack of snow, we recommended one of Sandefjord trails by foot. Each trail has a starting point in Sandefjord centre and you can choose several different trails that will take you on tour of about 1 hour. Ice Skating

In Bugårdsparken our outdoor ice rink is located. In addition there are several water where ice skating enthusiasts gather, such as Goksjø. Note that it must be safe ice.



Enjoy shopping in Sandefjord with a good range of shops both in the town centre mall or in cozy specialty shops.

Bjerggata in Sandefjord center is one of Sandefjord’s oldest streets.


Food and drink

Eat delicious food at cafes, bakeries or at one of the restaurants. Cod Fishing in January and February characterize the menus of several restaurants. Enjoy delicious lunch in nice cafes in our town or along the quay.

Midtåsen sculpture pavilion is open all year. Here you also get a beautiful view of Sandefjord. The park and the sculpture pavilion is located on the Anders Jahre former estate Midtåsen, now owned by Sandefjord Municipality and Anders Jahre Humanitarian Foundation.


What better than to warm a cold winter's body with a bath? Sandefjord swimming pool is open every day. It offers various activities for those who wish. Wellness and SPA treatments is availeble at Scandic Park Sandefjord and Parkbadet. Remember to prebook SPA treatments.
